The inspiration for this work comes from how architects use parametric methods to simulate people’s movement in urban or architectural spaces. Based on the simulation, architects adjust and optimize the design to achieve the ideal flow of people in the space.
This design method predefines movement patterns, optimizing efficiency but also enforcing spatial control. While it reduces congestion and improves movement efficiency, it raises the question of whether it’s a form of spatial control through digital means. By guiding movement, a sense of regularity is achieved.

In the work, squares symbolize controlled and orderly spaces, with movement patterns simulated within them. The repetition of identical squares reflects urban homogenization, where standardized designs minimize differences and personal sensory experiences. This uniformity shapes how people perceive their surroundings.
