Battle in Vanity Heights explores the conflict between different social classes. In this work, the red side represents the high-rise class, while the black side symbolizes the old buildings beneath them—both also standing for different social groups. The red side can attack, while the black side can only defend, reflecting how modern skyscrapers often rise by demolishing the "obstructive" low-rise structures below.

This process inevitably sparks resistance. Demolitions bring destruction and violence, and despite protests, the outcome remains unchanged. In some cases, “nail households” emerge—residents who refuse to leave their homes despite government orders. While this is a form of protest, it rarely succeeds. In the end, cold, towering structures replace the old warm building, justified in the name of urban progress. The battlefield in this work mirrors the broader urban struggle, where power dictates space, and resistance often proves futile.
